🚴 Putrajaya Sunset Ride - Coasting Into the Sunset

Length: 7km

Elevation: 40m

Difficulty: 1/5

This past weekend, Capy Crew traded in hiking boots for wheels and hit the Putrajaya Lakeside, cruising through palm-lined boulevards and waterfront paths as the sun dipped behind Malaysia’s administrative capital.

The Route

We kicked off from Dataran Putra, near the iconic Putra Mosque, before looping south along Jalan Tun Razak, hugging the lakefront past Lebuh Setia and weaving through quiet city blocks. We made a quick stop at the China-Malaysia Friendship Garden for a quick photo op. The ride curved westward before looping back via the scenic Putrajaya straight. A mellow route that gave us uninterrupted views of the water, domes, and dramatic sunset skies.

Planning Your Ride

We booked our bikes from KL EBIKE, which we can thoroughly recommend, They have a nice selection of bikes to choose from as well as super affordable prices. As an added bonus, the operators showcase the iconic Malaysian hospitality!

The full route was about 7km, mostly flat, with a mix of open boulevards and shaded paths. We rolled out around 6pm, timing our return just as the sky turned brilliant orange over Putrajaya Lake.

A special thanks to one of our Capy Crewmates Irfan Chek, who led the ride, acted as tour guide and filled us in on all the history behind our beautiful administrative capital!

Getting There

Putrajaya is about a 30–40 minute drive from KL. There’s ample parking near Dataran Putra or Perbadanan Putrajaya. For public transport, hop on the MRT to Putrajaya Sentral, then Grab to the start point.

The Vibe

This wasn’t a race. It was a slow, social ride. The kind where you coast more than you pedal, chat mid-ride, and stop often just to take in the views. The calm waters, broad roads, and iconic skyline made it one of the most relaxing Capy Crew outings yet.

Post-Ride Chill

We wrapped up the evening at the Putrajaya food trucks, just a short ride from our endpoint. With music in the background, fairy lights overhead, and a solid spread of local bites, it was the perfect way to unwind — legs sore, bellies full, and hearts happy.

Final Thoughts

Putrajaya reminded us that sometimes, you don’t need to leave the city to disconnect. A smooth ride, soft skies, and a few good laughs can be more than enough. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just in it for the views, this route’s a keeper.

We’ll be back to try the different routes Putrajaya has to offer and we hope to see you on the next one! 🐾
